Question
My daughter is 3 years old and has recently started feeling a sore throat, with difficulty swallowing, and now has a high fever that won’t go down. How should a child’s tonsillitis pain be treated?
Answer
Treatment can include symptomatic medications for the child’s symptoms, regional rinsing or spraying, and injection of symptomatic medications into the tonsils for effective symptom relief. If the child has severe throat pain, painkillers can be considered. Use fever-reducing medicine immediately if the fever persists. If the body temperature does not exceed 38.5 degrees Celsius, physical cooling can be applied. If there are recurrent inflammatory conditions, surgical treatment can be considered. During treatment, it is important to ensure the child receives adequate nutrition, maintains a light diet, and gets plenty of rest to avoid fatigue.
