Question

Dear parents, my daughter is currently 3 years old. She recently started saying that it hurts when she swallows, and I’ve noticed that her coughing seems more severe. Additionally, she seems to have a persistent low fever. How should we treat children’s tonsillitis effectively and relieve the pain?

Answer

You can appropriately administer some antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs, or perform regional rinsing or spraying. Injections of symptomatic medications can also be given to the tonsils, which are all effective treatments. In cases of throat pain, you can give the child some painkillers. If the child continues to have a fever, parents should also administer fever-reducing medication, or immediately take the child to the hospital. These methods are currently among the more common treatments for tonsillitis. Additionally, surgery is also a viable option for children who have recurrent episodes, and it is recommended to take children for moderate exercise after their condition improves to enhance immunity and prevent recurrence.
