Question
Dear Parent, my son is just over 7 months old. Initially, he complained of a sore throat, accompanied by slight coughing and a persistent low-grade fever. How should we treat a child’s crying due to tonsillitis?
Answer
To effectively treat tonsillitis, it is advisable to select appropriate anti-inflammatory medications under a doctor’s guidance and undergo regional treatments such as rinsing or direct medication to reinforce the treatment. If the child experiences significant throat pain, painkillers can be administered. For fever management, choose a cooling method based on body temperature; below 38.5 degrees Celsius, physical methods can be used for cooling(reduction of temperature), while above 38.5 degrees Celsius, oral fever-reducing drugs are recommended. These are commonly used treatment approaches. However, if the child’s tonsillitis recurs frequently, it is recommended to consider surgery as soon as possible. After recovery, it is suggested to engage the child in moderate exercise to boost immunity and prevent recurrence.
