Question
A 6-year-old boy always says he can’t see the blackboard clearly and has double vision when looking at things. The examination shows he has strabismus, can amblyopia be cured?
Answer
Amblyopia is defined as insufficient stimulation of visual cells during the growth and development of vision due to various reasons, which may result in single-eye or binocular vision being worse than that of normally sighted peers. It usually affects one eye but can also impact both. Diagnosis is made based on medical history, visual function, and eye examinations. If diagnosed with amblyopia, treatment opportunities may have already passed. For myopia, correction can be achieved through glasses.
