Question

My child has had a cold with a fever recently, constantly coughing and running a nose. The condition keeps fluctuating. What are the symptoms of developing a rash?

Answer

The symptoms of developing a rash typically consist of two stages. Initially, the body temperature may rise to 39-40°C, but the child’s overall condition remains good. Sometimes, there may be high fever seizures, accompanied by symptoms such as coughing, swelling of the neck lymph nodes, and ear pain. After about 4 days, the fever symptoms transition into the second stage, where the body temperature quickly returns to normal, and fine, clear pink spots appear. These spots are mainly distributed on the head and trunk, lasting for about 4 days. Children in good health rarely experience complications, but those with weaker immune systems may develop complications such as hepatitis or pneumonia. Given the similarity between meningitis and pediatric emergency departments, doctors may conduct further examinations to rule out possible bacterial meningitis.
