Question
My baby has had a cold for almost a month now, with coughing, stuffy nose, and runny nose. The symptoms improved after taking medicine, but they started to flare up again a few days after stopping the medication. What should I do for my baby’s cough and stuffy nose?
Answer
You can give your baby some medicine to take, or pediatric pseudoephedrine syrup, and have the doctor listen to your baby’s lungs at the hospital. If necessary, they can also take X-rays. You can try giving your baby the medicine for two days to see if it works. It’s normal for babies to get sick, so don’t worry too much. Take your baby to the hospital for a check-up. Since babies are small, if they are in good spirits, I think you can start with the medicine. However, if they are crying, I recommend taking them to the hospital for a look. They may have a cold blood constitution, but the medicine might be a bit strong and hard to drink for the baby. Keep a close observation. Patients should develop good daily habits, maintain regular sleep schedules, avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, and increase daily exercise to improve their immunity and prevent recurrence of the condition.
