Question

Our baby suddenly started bleeding from the nose. How should we handle nasal bleeding in children with a cold?

Answer

Nasal bleeding in children with a cold may be caused by nasal congestion or dryness leading to nasal skin breakdown. Immediately apply pressure to the nostrils using the thumb and middle finger simultaneously to stop the bleeding. After about five minutes, release the pressure and observe if medication is needed. If it continues to bleed, repeat the pressure for five to ten minutes; medication can usually be administered in most cases. If it remains ineffective, please seek medical attention promptly. During treatment, patients should pay attention to their diet, maintain regular work and rest , actively participate in physical exercise, maintain physical and mental health, and avoid bacterial infections.
