Question
My baby is two years old and shows delayed development, abnormal behavior, inability to speak, and a dazed gaze. He has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. How can I help my child?
Answer
The treatment for cerebral palsy aims to promote the recovery and growth of various systems’ functions, correct abnormal postures, and reduce the degree of disability. Early detection and early treatment are crucial. Combine family training with medical guidance and adhere to long-term treatment. Functional training is the main method of treatment, including trunk training, skill training, and language training. Orthotic devices and surgical treatments can also be helpful. Other methods like hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine may also be beneficial for recovery. There is currently no effective medication available to cure cerebral palsy.
