Question
A 26-year-old male patient experienced symptoms such as weakness, sweating, and loss of appetite. After hospital examination, he was diagnosed with a thyroid adenoma. What are the causes of thyroid adenoma?
Answer
Most thyroid cysts are solitary nodules, but occasionally, there may be multiple nodules. The diameter is usually between 2 to 5 centimeters. Ultrasound examination can determine whether the mass is cystic or a solid nodule. Most thyroid cysts are benign, and it is relatively rare to have thyroid cancer combined with a cyst. Cystic masses with cancer are usually detectable by cyst fluid cytology. In terms of treatment, non-surgical methods are generally more appropriate, such as thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy.
