Question

What should I do if I have a liver hemangioma? I’ve done an abdominal enhanced CT scan and the report shows a liver hemangioma. Do I need treatment? Do I need surgery? The hospital recommends observation. How should I handle it?

Answer

Liver hemangiomas are benign lesions and there is no need to be overly anxious. If the lesion is small and shows no obvious symptoms, treatment is not necessary. It is recommended to have regular liver ultrasound examinations every three to six months to observe any growth. If, during routine follow-up, the lesion is found to be relatively large, such as a diameter exceeding five centimeters, surgery or interventional therapy can be considered. Micro-invasive interventional treatment methods are usually used, so there is no need to worry too much.
