Question
Last month, during my company’s physical examination, I was found to have a liver hemangioma with a diameter of 5 cm. The doctor said it is a congenital benign tumor. How should I best handle this situation? What should I do about the liver hemangioma?
Answer
Liver hemangioma is a benign condition that usually does not require special treatment. In this case, the hemangioma is not particularly large. You can first observe it and regularly undergo abdominal color Doppler ultrasound examinations. Generally, an annual examination is sufficient as long as the hemangioma does not grow larger. If the tumor remains unchanged in size, no further intervention is needed. However, if the tumor becomes too large or grows too quickly, further surgical intervention may be considered.
