Question

A friend went to the hospital for a check-up and found that there were no tumor emboli in the veins. Does this indicate that the emboli will spontaneously metastasize?

Answer

Tumor emboli in veins are indicative of metastasis. This situation suggests that the lesion has invaded lymphatic or vascular channels. The deeper the tumor infiltration, the more vessels or lymphatic channels involved, and the later the stage. Generally speaking, if there is a confirmation of tumor emboli in the postoperative pathology, it often suggests poor prognosis after surgery. Conventionally, if tumor emboli are found in the postoperative pathology, chemotherapy treatment is required. Chemotherapy typically involves six cycles to reduce the likelihood of recurrence and metastasis of malignant tumors. If there are targeted drugs for this disease, targeted therapy can be attempted.
