Question

Can cerebral palsy in infants be cured?

Answer

Cerebral palsy in infants refers to a non-progressive syndrome of brain damage that occurs before or within a month after birth due to various causes. The factors causing cerebral palsy are complex and diverse, with some primarily caused by maternal prenatal factors such as intrauterine infection, intrauterine growth retardation, and prenatal trauma. Additionally, multiple pregnancies in the mother may also trigger cerebral palsy. The goal of clinical diagnosis and treatment of cerebral palsy is to make every effort to stabilize the child’s various functions to significantly improve their quality of life, and as much as possible reduce secondary problems such as joint deformities and soft tissue scar contractures, in order to delay or avoid surgical treatment. Generally, physical therapy is used to enhance joint mobility.
