Question

My child was born with cerebral palsy and is completely different from other children of the same age, lagging behind in all aspects. After some checks and treatments, there haven’t been any significant changes. I would like to inquire about the possible causes?

Answer

Cerebral palsy is also known as brain palsy. It is a syndrome characterized by motor and posture disorders caused by brain damage or injury during birth or within the first month after birth. It also involves epilepsy, intellectual disability, and low language impairment. I suggest you take your child to the hospital for physical training and physical therapy. Children with cerebral palsy may exhibit some abnormal postures, which require treatment. They cannot grow out of it; therefore, they need to participate in rehabilitation to suppress abnormal postures. Psychological therapy can also be provided for the child.
