How to Determine If a Child Has Pneumonia?

Parents can determine if a child has pneumonia by observing symptoms such as fever, cough, rapid breathing, flaring nostrils, blue or purple lips, mental state changes, coma, and seizures. A child under one year old with a breathing rate over 50 times when calm may also be a sign of pneumonia. If there is a suspicion of pneumonia, the child should be taken to the hospital immediately for treatment.
